The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly employment report for October shows that the Legal sector added 400 jobs. This brought to an end two consecutive months of job losses.
Having shed a combined total of 1500 jobs in August and September, this report carried more positive news, but it still means the industry has dropped a substantial number of positions when compared with October 2010.
The picture for the economy nationally was that 80,000 jobs were added and there was a small fall in the unemployment rate from 9.1 to 9.0 percent. Much greater job creation will need to be seen before both the legal sector and the economy as a whole are showing strong signs of recovery.
