Overview

Troutman Sanders LLP, an international law firm with over 650 lawyers in North America, Europe and Asia, is seeking candidates for a Litigation Technology Manager. This position will report to the Co-Leader of the E-Discovery & Data Management Team and Litigation Section Chief. This position will supervise a team of litigation support specialists responsible for supporting the firm’s lawyers and clients with regard to all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Possesses a B.A./B.S. degree; An advanced degree in a technology-related field or law is preferred; with five years of experience working with litigation technology support, including at least two year supervisory experience, preferably in a law firm environment or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• Must have excellent management skills with a solid background in both IT and litigation technology
• Has mastery and/or high familiarity with the litigation process, law firms, and litigation specific software tools such Concordance, Casemap, IPRO, LAW and hosted solutions such as Relativity, Clearwell, etc
• Must have proficiency with data management services
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for client (both internal and external) satisfaction with the Litigation Technology Department’s services, e.g., project completion timeliness, use of correct technology in relation to project tasks, project/vendor management, support given to legal team and data quality control
• Assisting E-Discovery Practice Team with developing and implementing processes, procedures, and technology necessary to efficiently and effectively manage the e-discovery process
• Supervising all Litigation Support technical data management activities
• Advising lawyers and clients about solutions for collection, processing, review, production, and presentation of ESI in litigation and related matters
• Preparing recommendations, budgets and project plans for acquiring and implementing recommended solutions
• Developing system for review and evaluation of litigation support solutions and tools
• Preparing and evaluating RFPs for e-discovery related vendors and solutions
• Assisting to troubleshoot Litigation Support applications and databases
• Managing outside vendor relationships including establishment and maintenance of Preferred Vendor relationships
• Supervising, training, and mentoring the Litigation Support team
• Assisting with educational efforts to keep attorneys and paralegals up to date on evolving issues related to e-discovery
• Evaluating, recommending and managing relevant licensing agreements
• Providing support and technical assistance with the design, development and implementation of database systems such as Concordance, Casemap, and similar products
• Providing on-going research for provision of guidance and direction in Litigation Support applications
