The Global Controller is responsible for overall day-to-day operations of the firm's accounting department staff, coordinating and facilitating accounting services to all offices throughout the firm. This includes completing accounting functions directly and overseeing and coordinating staff, workflows, transactions, audits, and controls inclusive of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, the general ledger and financial statements. The position is responsible for developing policies and procedures to assure the safeguard of assets and assurance of accurate and timely recordings of all transactions.

The Controller works with lawyers, administration managers and outside consultants to develop and implement processes and controls for all office locations firmwide. The position is responsible for the safeguard of assets, timely processing and timely recording of all transactions. Responsible for managing the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, client billing, payroll, work in progress reporting, trust accounting and general accounting. The position is responsible for developing, improving and delivering timely and accurate financial statements. Provides financial analysis to evaluate ongoing financial hygiene or proposed or ongoing financial considerations or plans or schemes. Manages banking relationships. Interfaces with internal and external auditors. Oversees accounting staff which may entail hiring, coordination of work flow, work assignments and work schedules. Works closely with staff to develop and manage individual and departmental performance. Completes all position duties in ethical manner acting in accordance with approved accounting standards and practices and completes duties in the interest of protecting the firm's assets. May assist with other accounting functions including budgeting, tax, procurement or credit. Assists the CFO in forming and making recommendations for the management committee, senior management, or outside consultants regarding various projects, policies, procedures or other management matters.

Full Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have 12 – 15 years of progressive experience. Candidate will have experience in Elite time and billing system knowledge. Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to follow oral and written instructions. Position requires a strong understanding of accounting/financial principles. Excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to multitask efficiently and expeditiously in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgment. Requires previous experience accounting for multiple locations in multiple countries and analysis of tax. Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office software, strong spreadsheet skills, client billing application experience and budgeting application experience. A CPA license, experience working in an accounting firm and experience in an international environment required. Exposure to tax desirable. Master's degree (MA) or equivalent combination of education and experience in a professionals services environment. This position is located in our Pittsburgh office.
